Distinguished Highlanders

John Beckemeyer

John Beckemeyer enjoys the pleasure of serving the Oak Hills community as Director of Operations for the Oak Hills Local School District. John lived in the Highlander community for 36 years and attended Bridgetown Junior High and then graduated from Oak Hills High School in 1973. He earned an associates degree in applied science from Cincinnati State Technical College. His knowledge and skills in all building trades and business is exceptional and his commitment is second to none. John began his career with the district maintenance team in 1986 and shortly thereafter he began leading the team. In 1993 John was promoted to District supervisor, followed by two more promotions before becoming Operations coordinator in 1999. In 2013 John became Director of Operations.

When you think of someone being distinguished, several characteristics come to mind; successful, authoritative (with respect), respectful, hardworking, caring.  Those characteristics are very evident when you look at John’s career at Oak Hills.

“Working” is not how you would describe John’s career at Oak Hills. “Dedication” would be the most appropriate way of describing his time in the district. He has always been driven to make Oak Hills the best place for the students, staff, parents and community. He has always gone above and beyond his job description---initiating training for his staff, checking roads and buildings during inclement weather, or anything else that is needed to make the district safe and running smoothly. He is respected by his peers, those who work for him and those he works for. He is always willing to jump in and help anyone in need. For John, being there for the District and those he comes in contact is not a job, but his passion to help.

In addition to being blessed with a great career, God blessed John with a fantastic family: his parents Lawrence and Marie, sisters Rita, Lisa and brother/best friend Gary. He has a beautiful wife/best friend Vicky and they have five children: four girls, Kimberly, Nikki, Leslie, Jamie and a son Chris. They are also blessed with 16 and 2/3rds grandchildren.

John currently serves on the Ohio Public Facilities Maintenance Associations (OPFMA) executive board as past president. He has shared his talents with family, friends and strangers in need. Along with enjoying his family, friends and his job, he is interested in vintage tractors, cars, hunting and fishing.
