John Hall - alumni

John was born in Lexington, Kentucky. His family moved to Cincinnati in 1968. At the time he had strong opinions about the move. His preference not to move was ignored by his parents, both of whom were stronger than he. He completed 3rd-12th grades in the Oak Hills system. After graduating from OHHS he attended Tulane University then University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.

After practicing medicine for 20 years John suffered a mid-life crisis and returned to school and completed law and business degrees. He is a licensed physician in several jurisdictions and is admitted to the California bar. He has provided consultative and litigation support on a wide variety of criminal and civil matters related to health care. 

He has held many academic, clinical and executive positions including Professor of Anesthesia, Pediatrics, and Bioethics and Medical Humanities at University of Mississippi Health Center and Chief of Anesthesia at The Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital, Jackson, Mississippi. He has also served as an Academic Fellow at The Potomac Institute for Policy Studies in Washington, D.C. He is the former Executive Director of the Mississippi State Board of Medical Licensure.

He is Founder of The Aegis Firm, a healthcare consulting firm, as well as volunteer faculty at The Ohio State University and Nationwide Children's Hospital. Prior to his current role, he was SVP for Legal/Medical Affairs (general counsel) at a start-up healthcare compliance and analytics company. Currently he the only physician and the only attorney in Strategic Revenue Services for a hospital system in Texas.
